Target Audience – Workplace, Care, Support & Clinical staff in a variety of settings:

General workplace, Psychiatric hospitals, community mental health support, supported living for mental health, learning disability and autism.

Housing Support Teams & Probation teams who are providing care & support.

Course overview:

This course has been developed to improve employees and service users’ management of stress and anxiety. Extensive research has shown that people who practice mindfulness have better focus and productivity, have more patience, can better control their emotions, have increased compassion and have a heightened body awareness and are therefore able to quickly identify when their body is telling them that they are stressed and take action to reduce the stress.

This course is delivered using a range of methods and resources including:

Face to Face tutor participative facilitation (whether in the classroom or online), scenarios for group discussions, polls, question and answer time, videos and end of session assessment.

This course has been developed and mapped to current occupational standards, qualification frameworks and the following documents and resources:

  • NICE guideline on using mindfulness to support mental wellbeing at work
  • NHS mindfulness guideline
  • MIND mindfulness information
  • BAMBA – British Association of Mindfulness-based approaches

Levels 3 to 4: the course is aimed at learners at level 3 to 4

Learning Outcomes:

After attending this course, learners will be able to:

  1. Describe what mindfulness is
  2. Discuss the origin, history and development of mindfulness
  3. Describe how mindfulness works
  4. Explain the benefits of mindfulness
  5. Discuss mindfulness in relation to mental and emotional problems
  6. Practice some mindfulness exercises/techniques
  7. Identify where to find extended mindfulness training courses and mindfulness resources
